My first online school visit!

I have been working on my online school visit program since May and finally completed my first online school visit to the The Junction Public School in Australia. This was something I have been dreaming of doing for over a year and to see it finally happen was so great. Now, did everything go perfect? Nope, there were a few problems.

1. Scheduled the wrong date! Yeah, I actually scheduled the wrong date and then had to go back and change the date. So that was really bad.

2. Then the wrong time! Always check your time zones. We agreed to a time of 7pm my time in Ohio 10am in Australia, but I forgot about daylights savings time. I'm not sure how many countries do daylights savings time, but it's another thing you have to figure out when setting up a presentation on the other side of the world. I think I have found an app to fix this problem.

3. The classroom webcams wouldn't work...I think I had everything turned on but for some reason the classroom webcams were not working properly.

The only way to learn how to do something amazingly well is to just do it, and learn from it. I learned a lot from this first visit and look forward to my next school visit to another school in Australia in just two weeks.

Oh, and one more thing, THANK YOU Junction Public School! You guys ROCKED!

  1. Thanks Steve for your wonderful presentation!

Every student who had the opportunity to attend enjoyed every minute of it and it was difficult to get them out of the rooms to go to recess. The teachers were also very impressed with the presentation and even joined in on the drawing lessons.

Thanks once again and I will email you some of the student drawings as soon as I get the chance.

Anyone thinking of having Steve visit your school, I can highly recommend the experience!
