Falls-Lenox Primary

Falls-Lenox Primary was a great visit for me. It was a good four hour drive to get to, but well worth it. The students and staff were wonderful and I had a great day teaching kids to draw and use their huge imagination to create. The school was really excited to find out I was the artist that draws Kelso the Frog. Kelso is a mascot that represents kindness, and honesty and good virtues for kids to follow.

The Tussing Whale

When the teacher told me to park my car by the whale I wasn't sure what to expect. Then as a turned the corner I saw this large tail by the parking lot. Seeing a whale tail sticking out of the ground looked odd to me. It looks like it was dropped head first from an airplane and it stuck in the ground upon impact.

Toll Gate Elementary School

While I was at Toll Gate Elementary I had a chance to sit down with some of the students and draw one on one. I drew numbers and letters and had the kids create their own monsters. It's fun to watch their little imaginations run wild.
Enjoy!

Sycamore Creek Elementary

Here I am talking with the kids of Sycamore Creek Elementary in Pickerington OH. The kids were great, and had all kinds of questions for me. Some good artists at the school too.

Free School Visits

Since I started the program this year the response has been overwhelming. I used to charge for school visits, but with budget cuts and a terrible economy this program just made sense to me. I come to the school for the day and give presentations to the kids. My presentations cover my career, how I have illustrated over 100 books, I show the art I did as a kid, and I talk about practicing and working hard. Then the best part, for the last 15-20 minutes I sit and teach the kids how to draw.

I make my money by selling my books to the students and the schools earn 30% off of the sale of my books. Some schools have made over $1,000.00 off the sale of my books so it's a win-win situation for everyone involved. The students get a day of creativity and learning, I make money off the sale of the books, and the school gets a hassle free fundraiser.

The three books I have for sale are as follows to date:
Drawing Animals With Numbers
Drawing Monsters With Letters
Drawing Sea Animals With Numbers

All books are $6.00 each and I sign and draw a cartoon in each book that the students buy.

Dunloe Elementary School kids art

Some of the many drawings that the students at Dunloe Elementary drew for me before my school visit. Can you believe that this is Kindergarten?

Winchester Trail Art

Winchester Trail had a contest to see what the kids could make out of the letters WC (Winchester Trail.) These were the winners. They got to have a pizza party with me at lunch time and we did some drawing together.

Winchester Trail Elementary School

Here I am getting ready to talk to over 300 second graders. I don't get a chance to take many pictures of my events because there are so many things going on all at once that I often forget.
