Clipboard Art

This is what I do now, I draw on clipboards for fun. Actually, I want to use these at some of the comic conventions I am going to this summer so when kids draw with me they have something fun to draw on and hopefully I won't lose any of them.

Falls-Lenox Primary

Falls-Lenox Primary was a great visit for me. It was a good four hour drive to get to, but well worth it. The students and staff were wonderful and I had a great day teaching kids to draw and use their huge imagination to create. The school was really excited to find out I was the artist that draws Kelso the Frog. Kelso is a mascot that represents kindness, and honesty and good virtues for kids to follow.

Mid-Ohio-Con (Update)

I had a great time at the Mid Ohio Comic Con this weekend. It was my first time ever showing at a con and I wasn't sure what the response would be. But not only did people really enjoy my books and art they just had so many compliments. Even people that didn't buy would just stop and tell me what a great idea it was and wished me luck. I was so nervous going into this show because, let's face it, most people come for super heroes, zombies, Star Wars and more adult entertainment. I will be back next year to show again and looking to do Philadelphia Comic Con in June.

This is me and my son in front of my booth at Mid Ohio Comic Con.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but its been a really busy summer. I had a great time visiting with the kids at The Clark County Library in Winchester Kentucky. What a beautiful library and such a great space to host childrens programming. Thanks to all those that attended.

My Studio

Here it is, my studio. It's not super fancy and I don't have a lot of action figures or toys. I have some of my ideas posted on the walls and some of my kids artwork. It's a mess right now and I was just getting ready to clean it up, but I thought you might want to see the dirty version...maybe I will do a before and after.

Thank You Card

I just received a personal thank you card (hand made) from Jennie Cross at Norwich Elementary in Hilliard. She writes:

Dear Steve,
My students loved your presentation and your books. Parents and teachers have been telling me how their kids love to draw with numbers and letters. The kids really loved having you here. Thank you for making that affordable for us.
Hugs,
Jennie Cross and the kids at Norwich

New Banners

My theme for my shows and website is Draw, Create, Imagine or is it Imagine, Draw, Create? They both sound good but basically I want kids to use their imaginations and get drawing! Get Creative! Use that brain to create something that doesn't exist.
Just have fun being creative!

So to drive that point home I had these large banners created so when I do my presentations the message will be in plain http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifview the entire time.
Oh and here is where I get my banners printed if anyone want to get some made...They do great work.

Horace to the rescue.

So I am considering the idea of creating about monsters using the characters from my Drawing Animals With Numbers book. Here is the main character Horace. (Drawn with the letter H)
